YourGardenShow Live from Pollinator Week Celebration in Washington D.C.

Get the buzz on what's happening at the event

Your Garden Show

The YourGardenShow team is in Washington D.C. today, exhibiting at the Pollinator Week summit on the National Mall. It may be nearing 100 degrees, but we're happy to be here meeting so many passionate gardeners, beekeepers and organizations, and talking to everyone about the Great Bee Count, a Citizen Science effort to count bees across North America.  We've been handing out sunflower seed packets, courtesy of YGS partner Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, to get people started and spreading the word about Bee-a-thon 2011, a live, online "town hall" event with experts discussing the challenge we face with dwindling bee populations and inspiring action.

Cicada damage

Things can get touchy for trees and shrubs

Guest Blogger - Alan Lorence

I'm pretty sure the 13-year cicada emergence in St. Louis has pretty much ended -- at least the emergence part. The incessant calling, flying around, and mating is still going strong. Mating cicadas means egg-laying cicadas, which means plant damage.
