How did you become a gardener?

I was born into a family of farmers and gardeners. I literally grew up in the fields while my family worked the farm during the growing season. By the time I was able to walk and talk my mom gave me small tasks to perform. To encourage my weeding she told me how perfect my little fingers were for grasping the small weeds. Though I did not think I wanted to do this for many years when I became an adult and bought my first home the passionate gardener emerged.

What is your favorite plant?

Though this is difficult to decide I must admit that it must be a yucca since I plant it everywhere I can. I love how it contrasts with most other plants of our region.

What's a favorite feature of your garden?

My favorite feature is the sitting area especially when I see the older residents and small children enjoying the gardens.

What's your greatest challenge in gardening?

Finding enough time to do it.

What's your best tip for new gardeners?

Don't be afraid to make mistakes, just plant what you love.
