How did you become a gardener?
My friends and I played with bean shooters when we were young children. Several days after one of our epic battles, we noticed beans growing along and within the dirt spaces of the sidewalks and yards where we had fought. The young plants inspired me and my playmates to plant beans and I have been doing so ever since.
What is your favorite plant?
At present, my favorite plant is the tomato.
What's a favorite feature of your garden?
My favorite feature is the compost pile. The pile is where waste goes in and nutrients come out. This is the melting pot of my garden.
What's your greatest challenge in gardening?
My greatest challenge is creating the ideal growing environment for each plant in and around my house.
What's your best tip for new gardeners?
Love and nurture your plants.
