An Educational School Garden in California

Featured Garden: Room 608
The Featured Garden series presents weekly editor's picks of gardens from YourGardenShow.com.

Located in Southern California, Room 608 is a school garden maintained by a classroom of young gardeners! Its chief gardener and teacher Molly shares lessons and skills with her students – and tells their story through her glog.

How did you become a gardener?

I'm still a novice, but have always had plants around. My parents loved gardening, so I guess I come by it naturally.

What is your favorite plant?

It's too hard to pick just one! Lately, I'm into edibles because it is so satisfying to be able to harvest and eat what you grow. I also love all sorts of flowers like daisies and fuschias for their sheer beauty.

What's a favorite feature of your garden?

I love the way our garden continues to evolve. I love seeing the growth in my students, as much as in the plants.

What's your greatest challenge in gardening?

A big challenge can be keeping up the momentum in a school garden. Finding the time isn't always easy.

What's your best tip for new gardeners?

Just jump in and get started! Don't be intimidated by your lack of expertise.

Thanks to Molly for sharing with us! To follow this garden and learn more, visit its glog at Room 608.
